Background of the Study
Recruitment and selection processes are fundamental HR practices that ensure the right individuals are hired to meet an organization’s needs and objectives (Adeyemi & Yusuf, 2023). In the manufacturing sector, companies like Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) in Taraba State depend heavily on the quality of their workforce to maintain operational efficiency and achieve their strategic goals (Adebayo & Chukwu, 2024). Effective recruitment and selection practices are critical for ensuring that only the most qualified candidates are chosen, leading to better workforce quality, improved productivity, and enhanced organizational performance.
FMN, a major player in the Nigerian food manufacturing industry, faces the challenge of recruiting and selecting the right talent to meet its growing demands. The quality of the workforce directly impacts the company’s ability to meet production goals, maintain product quality, and compete in the market. However, there is limited research on how FMN’s recruitment and selection processes affect workforce quality in Taraba State. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of FMN’s recruitment and selection processes and their impact on workforce quality.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the importance of effective recruitment and selection, FMN’s processes in Taraba State have not been comprehensively evaluated to understand their impact on workforce quality. Poor recruitment decisions can lead to a mismatch between employees’ skills and the company’s requirements, which in turn affects productivity and quality standards (Oluwatobiloba & Okafor, 2023). This gap in knowledge hinders the company’s ability to optimize its recruitment and selection processes for improved workforce quality.
